Composting During the Holidays

Food is more than just a meal - especially during the holiday season, it's the heart of gatherings and celebrations. From its growth to preparation to the joy of sharing it, food connects us. But what about the food that doesn't get eaten?

This holiday season, give your food scraps a second life by taking advantage of our community compost pile! Recycling your organic waste through composting helps reduce landfill waste while creating nutrient-rich soil for our local gardens!

Here's what you can compost:

• Halloween candy that's gone stale

• Some of those Thanksgiving leftovers you'll never eat

• Veggie peels and food scraps from holiday meal prep

What we accept: Most organic waste, like fruits, vegetables, coffee grounds, tea bags, and yard trimmings.

What we don't accept: Meat, dairy, eggs, or oils.

Let's make the holidays greener together! Drop off your scraps and help us build a circular food system right here in our own community. Email or text our Community Compost Coordinator with any compost questions: CommunityRootsVista@gamil.com (740) 207 2957
